Our Story

The last two years have been so full, one hardly knows where to start. One of the first miracles to occur was when Fiona received a call from her mother to ask if she was interested in meeting her biological mother. You see Fiona was adopted at birth by Lesley and Richard. She always knew that she was adopted but had never really tried to find her biological family as she didn't want to hurt her mom.

Well, Fiona agreed to a meeting with her biological family. A few weeks later, after some contact via letter and telephone, Fiona got to meet the Fullers - her biological family. What a pleasant surprise as Leona and Barry had got married a few years after giving up Fiona and had three more children - all girls (Lauren, Erin and Caitlin).

We travelled from to Johannesburg to Durban where they live and met them on the Friday night. The next evening, it was Barry's 50th birthday party and so Fiona was dumped into the deep end, meeting all the friends of the Fullers in addition to her family! A great present for Barry as he and Leona had been trying to find Fiona for a couple of years already. A very special weekend!

This is a picture of the Fullers with Fiona and Stephen at Christmas 2004.

The people are:

Front (Left to right): Barry; Leona

Back (left to right): Fiona, Stephen, Erin, Caitlin and Lauren.

We have been lucky enough to spend several times a year with the Fullers at their home in Durban, on the south coast at our holiday cottage and at our house in Johannesburg. Everything has gone so well - what a blessing!

More on the next stage of the story tomorrow!

Even though I've only met Fiona once, through my sister Shaheen who was in the same hospital room as Fiona - it seems like we've all really connected!

I (and I'm quite sure Shaheen too)wish the both of you - with all my heart, the very best of good luck, you deserve it!!
And remember, whenever you're in this part of the world - you have a home!!!

All the best,
Fareen

Knowing how my family is, you really were dumped in the deep end!
I wish I could be there with you for the birth, I can't wait to meet these two little faces. They truly are a special miracle to the world, and especially to your lives.
Lots and lots of love...
