Two Weeks Old

The twins are two weeks old. So much has happened since that Saturday morning when we went in. For me, the realisation that all the scary, intimidating things (such as changing a nappy) are not so bad at all. The only scary thing is sleep - something we are desperately short of!

Daniel's little operation yesterday threw out our routines quite seriously with the nightmare scenario of one twin waking two hours after the other now occurring. So, we're now forcing a wake-up time for both of them which does not always go down well with the tired one as s/he won't feed.

Anyhow, those that are awake are feeding really well - we've put their feed up to 75 ml each and they sometimes take up to 100ml in a feed. The more ml for them means more sleep for us as they sleep their full four hours afterwards. To reduce the feeding time, we used a large teat tonight with Emma which meant the normally 20-45 minute feed was over in 6 minutes! She niggled a bit but it meant that we could rest a bit more as we are all exhausted.

Both of their umbilical cords have now dried up. Daniel's fell off today and Emma's fell off a few days ago.

Our twins are really global in their reach. We have received messages and/or presents from friends and family in Canada, the UK, Kenya, Australia - and ok Durban! Great to hear from you all.

Tomorrow Grandad John arrives from England.
