This morning I fetched Caroline so we could go and collect Mum and John from the airport. We were both so excited to see them again, as it has been a long time! We had so much to chat about, and spent the rest of the day catching up, and just being a family. The last time Mum, John, Caro and I were together was for Caro's 21st in London in 1999!!! Mum and John were delighted to see see Emma and Daniel again, as they were just 1 month old when they last saw them.
They have a busy week planned, with a mid-week break for one night up in Bela Bela (Warmbaths) at a private game reserve. Their suitcases were piled high with things for us, Caro and the babies, with the bulk of it being taken up by more clothes for my spoilt little bundles. Mum also brought presents for them for their Christening from Uncle Ed and Aunty Kathy, who gave them the most beautiful first cutlery set each, comprising a knife, fork, spoon and teaspoon. They were also spoilt by Hazel (Kathy's Mum), who got them their first cloth books. The books are exquisitly made, and Daniel has already paged through his (with a little help from his Daddy)! For those who don't know, Ed, Kathy and Hazel are friends of my Mum's and John's and a family that Caro and I grew up with in Westville when we were young.
Other than that, there is not too much news. Daniel continues to improve at his sitting, and Emma is getting better at being left to her own devices. It is great for us, as it means a little free time while she is busy playing. The toy of the week for both of them are shoe laces!
Although Joburg is still cold at night, it is a lot warmer than last week, so that first winter cold snap is over. The days are gorgeous, and it is still wonderful to sit in the sun and warm up. I hope it is like that next weekend when we have everyone around for their Christening.
Once again the weekend is over, and another week is about to begin. I still have some preparation to do for the Christening, but I am more or less organised. We now look forward to Barry, Leona, Lauren, Erin and Caitlin arriving from Durban on Saturday morning, as well as John and Liz from Stellenbosch.
Have a wonderful week everyone!
