Christening

Whew - that weekend was fabulous and hectic! It was fabulous seeing all our family and friends but hectic too, as we were constantly on the go and also had two relatively sick babies! As Steve said in his previous post, Emma was pretty sick, but is much improved with her cold virtually gone. They will have their final dose of the antibiotic tomorrow morning, so I am pleased about that. I have however, found a really good way to administer it: in a couple of tablesppons of natural yoghurt! They love it.

The Christening went really well: it was short, but that is what is required with babies. We had a bit of a disaster with the cake, as I had saved the top tier of our wedding cake for this very occasion. When Mum took the icing off, we discovered that it was mouldy right through! My guess is that as the tumble drier makes the kitchen more humid than before we aquired it, that muggy condition made the cake go mouldy. Oh dear! So on top of everything else, we had to factor in the making of a cake. Mum came to the rescue and made a delicious carrot cake on Saturday afternoon which went down very well with the champagne!

On Sunday the weather was beautiful, and although a little cool, was super sunny and that meant we could all sit in the garden. We all chatted and played with babies, and it was just so very special having everyone there. Most of our guests had travelled a great distance to see us all: UK, Stellenbosch, Durban and Westville.

Our little ones were spoilt as usual and received some beautiful gifts including cutlery sets, bibles, pendants with their names engraved, money boxes (Emma's a pram and Daniel's a car) also with their names engraved, books, blankets and photo frames. Thank you everyone!

They have both started sitting so nicely, but do still topple over quite often. Daniel in particular thinks that sitting equals rocking (Row row row your boat) so tries to rock whenever we sit him up. Maybe in the long run that will be better for his balance!

Below are pictures of their sitting efforts! They are both holding curlers in their hands - I bought them to go on the mobiles I am making for them.

Mum and John left this evening for the UK again, so we will only see them in April / May next year, when we are planning a trip out to see them. Yesterday was also a big day in the Fuller family, as it was 3 years ago exactly since we met them.
