The weekend was one of those tough weekends. Only the Sharks won out of the Super 14 teams and Emma had one of those weekends!
Emma was not feeling well and as a result demanded to be held virtually every second of the day. We think she is continuing with her slow version of teething. For the first time, we gave her Panado every six hours to preserve our sanity.
On Saturday night, both children were in our bed during the night. Emma, in her unwell state, had not eaten and found herself at 2am and very hungry (with sore gums). So it was gel for her gums, Panado and a small bottle of milk. She fell asleep after a while and was unceremoniously returned to her cot. And then at 5am, Daniel had his moment, and so ended up in our bed.
They developed a small habit of waking up at 6 am during the latter part of the week. This was carried through to Saturday morning. After an hour of listening to Emma complaining, we decided to take a walk around Zoo Lake, followed by a light breakfast at one of the coffee shops at Parkview shops. well, the walk did wonders for Emma's mood. She seemingly remembered the word "duck" everytime we saw some (strictly speaking they were actually geese) which was nice.
Daniel was an angel compared to his sister this weekend, playing quietly by himself while we tried to comfort his distraught sister. He is beginning to walk a great deal more. The change in his balance and length of walk has increased dramatically in the last three days. Nice to watch as he begins to get really mobile.
Today, Emma was a lot better - much to our relief. Tonight she was running all over the place as she moved things from one side of the lounge to another. So nice to see her happy. Daniel obviously had his moments at creche - he does a flip-flop whenever someone tries to take his toy etc. His fifth tooth s making an appearance on the top right hand side of his mouth.
Fortunately, last night was quieter than usual - we each only got up once and the burglar alarm decided it saw an intruder in our kitchen - even though that sensor is turned right down. I think an ant (we are overrun with them at the moment) must have walked directly over the sensor. First time for a long time. Grrrrrr!
Sleep time ...
