The End of Summer

It is that sad time of year when you can declare that it is the end of summer. On Sunday the skies darkened and it just got colder and colder. This morning there was frost on the neighbours roof although not on our lawn.

We had load-shedding tonight from 6pm to 10pm. So the twins faded nice and quickly due to the dark. Fiona soon followed as she is not feeling well - she can't seem to shake off the cold she caught earlier. Anyhow, lots of sleep should help things get better. With the two day working week next week, getting an appointment with the doctor was difficult - she'll see her tomorrow to get an antibiotics prescription.

We are a little concerned as the twins both had red cheeks today. Another kid had red cheeks earlier this week and is now down with German Measles. They have been vaccinated against it but you never know. They have also still got horrible coughs.

Today Fiona got a nice little salary increase from her boss. I had one last month - just in time for the steep increases in petrol and thus everything else. Thank goodness as things seem to be getting expensive very quickly. Interesting times.

The weekend was pretty quiet. We needed it to recover from the lack of sleep of the week. Anyhow, things have quietened down nicely, although they are both drooling a great deal.

Emma is starting to come out with lots of little words - often in response to things. And Daniel is completely fixated with anything going round. As soon as he sees something going round, he points in the direction and makes circles with his forefinger. All this while saying "w-ound, w-ound." He even picks out things on TV going round and then tells us about it.

We put on BBC with Barney on Saturday morning. Both seemed to identify with the characters. Nice to see them suddenly notice what is on the TV. Now we have got to start watching what we watch. At least they'll get a good rugby education ...

Next week we go to the coast - can't wait. And tomorrow, they get some more vaccinations.
