Momentous Win

Today, the SA Cricket Team won the test series against Australia in Australia. A first for SA cricket. Quite an achievement for a young team. I stayed up all night to watch history being made (as did many other cricket lovers judging from the calls to the TV studio at 06:00). What made it really enjoyable was the gutsy performances in that we came back from the dead in both tests. Bodes well for the future - now we need to win the third and final test in Sydney to be ranked the number one test team in the world (we beat England at home and drew with India at home earlier this year).
Our Christmas was quite hectic with the twins getting piles and piles of presents, and Christmas dinner.
They got some really wonderful presents from books, educational puzzles, cars. blocks, a fairy set, clothes, crayons, teddy bears, a drum set, a shopping trolley, handbags, a play table and a dolls bedroom set. So there has been lots of playing and a few nights of not wanting to go to bed as they are too busy having fun. We also got some great presents - a new printer/scanner/photocopier for our computer and a new camera for Fiona. Also got some new CDs and an MP3 player for Fiona to use at work when the boss is away.
We were joined at our Christmas dinner by my mom, Judy and Caroline. The dinner started early with present opening in the garden (it was too hot to sit inside), followed by drinks and starters (camembert phyllo with cranberry sauce, and garlic prawns). The cranberry sauce came from Highgove, Prince Charles' estate. The main course was turkey and gravy, pigs in blankets, potato salad, macadamia butter nut salad and green salad. Everyone then had some Christmas pudding with custard or brandy butter. A nice meal that everyone seemed to enjoy. A very cold wind came up after starters and so everything was moved to our dining room before supper was served.
We then spent the rest of the week digesting the meal, eating left overs and I got up early every day to watch the test. On Day Three I got up late as it appeared that we were going to have another whitewash by Australia. What a surprise to see that we were still batting after a day of cricket.
John, Lesley and Caroline left very early on Saturday morning to fly to Cape Town, and then drive onto Stellenbosch and Hermanus for a few days. They return tonight.
Today, I'm hopefully going to finish putting a second coat of paint on our bathroom walls and put on our new bathroom accessories.
Now, where is that left over Christmas pudding ... Or should it be a slice of Christmas cake?
