Wonderful February Evenings

February is proving to be it's usual special self - nice hot days followed by wonderful evenings with the odd thunderstorm. As a result, we are able to spend each evening walking around the house as Daniel practices his walking. Highlight is a stop at the front gate to wave at all the passerbys and to go 'woof-woof' at the dog across the road. Interesting to see how virtually everyone reacts to them just standing there. Now if I'd known about this trick in my single days ...

Nice thing to notice on our walks is that Emma does not try and take the Toddle cart over from Daniel anymore. She instead walks with one of us. This does not mean that she gets out of the way of the cart - and it does not mean that Daniel stops pushing if she is in the way. She might have a bruise on her shins tomorrow - her own fault - the learning curve continues ...

We changed our sandpit arrangement - we have been covering it up with a plastic cover before putting the other half of the clam shell on. This was to keep the rain out - which failed. Anyhow, with the hot weather, it must have got very clammy inside and as a result, we found mould growing on the sand when we opened everything up on the weekend. After throwing the bits of mould out, we have changed strategies with a piece of birdnetting now covering the sand pit (to stop the cats using it as a toilet) and the other half of the clam shell has 200 coloured balls now permanently in it - both children loved playing in them.

Yesterday, we threw out the DSTV decoder of about ten years, as it was delivering a picture full of lines. Got a new one - my goodness what a beautiful picture! Tonight we watched reruns of "Green Card" and "Bridget Jones Diary" - two of our more favourite movies. The DVD recorder is working overtime!

We've discontinued their evening meal as they are just not hungry. We usually throw it all away. They eat so much at Creche that there is no need to give them a second big meal. Instead, they now get a banana each which goes down really well. The usual bottle follows a little later.

Emma was absolutely exhausted tonight - she could hardly stay awake to finish her bottle. Daniel wasn't too tired and spent the evening playing - coming to each of us periodically for a quick love.
