Today was a great day for all concerned. Steve managed to give Daniel a few decent sized feeds, and as a result we are both so much happier with the situation as now we feel as if he will start putting on weight.
We went to visit Emma shortly after lunch, and were delighted to find that she is out of her incubator! They had just taken her out 2 hours before, and although she was covered in three blankets, she was keeping herself warm which is the first time ever. She has also put on 40g in the 2 days since they last weighed her which is spectacular. We stayed for her 3pm feed and again watched her down her bottle in 15 minutes flat! We will see what the paed says tomorrow and on Monday, but I (and the nurses) seem to think that we are looking at a home coming for early next week. We can't wait.
When we got home, we decided it was time Daniel had a bath at home. He was bathed the day we left, and they recommend only 2 baths a week for the little ones. Obviously he gets a top and tail clean with all his feeds, but the rest needed a wash! He performed a bit when I put the shampoo on his head, but once it was dry again he was quiet. He also disliked the shampoo being rubbed on his body and legs and really screamed, but once he was floating in the basin he was so quiet and seemed to love every minute! It was so cute to see him revelling in the water. We quickly dried him, covered him in baby oil and gave him a nice massage, which he couldn't get enough of. He stretches his long arms and legs out to expose as much skin as possible for massage.
Granny from England is arriving tomorrow morning, and I know that she can't wait to meet her first grand children. Fortunately there are Grandparents' visiting hours on a Sunday at the hospital, so she can also see Emma. We are also really looking forward to the assistance at home for the next 3 weeks!
