Weights, Porridge and Farts!

Well after a long absence on the blog, I (Stephen) am updating it tonight.

The twins were weighed yesterday: Emma gained over 400 grams to weigh in at 5.6 kg and Daniel gained 200g to 6.8 kg.
Daniel's weight is plateauing off just in time as he would have exceeded the parameter for a baby of his age had he continued on the path he was on. The four hour feeds and all night sleeps are paying off.
Emma is now nicely in the correct range for her age and size (after being a little under). So all is well on that front.

After a turbulent Tuesday with Emma, both made Valentines day a quiet day although Emma insisted on a feed every hour last night. She is now reaching a stage whereby we can begin to restrict her feeds to four hour intervals.
Today Daniel got onto the niggle wagon and moaned all day. He seems a little off colour this evening - not finishing his bottle. Lets hope tomorrow is better.

From a feeding solids point-of-view, Emma also had her first porridge today, eating a whole half a teaspoon. We think she needs to learn to eat from a spoon before we start having further success.
Daniel had his first taste of Butternut today - he ate about 75% of an ice cube worth - not bad for a first try. He didn't reject, nor did he seem to love it.

We had a Royal Inauguration today with Queen Fiona crowning Emma the Queen of (wait for it) Farts. She has lots and lots of gas that she expels regularly and loudly!

Daniel has started singing quite loudly when he is a a good mood. He also loves being sung to. We think he might have some talent in that respect that we might need to nurture in the years to come.

This afternoon, I suddenly noticed that Emma and Daniel have changed quite a lot - I was looking at them from a different angle which is maybe why I suddenly gained a new perspective. Her hair is growing more and more blonde (Fiona had blonde hair as a young child) and Daniel is looking really bulky and dangerous! Quite a change from when they were born (look at the old photos on the blog archive - if you are interested).

Woza Friday, Friday my darling, umsebenzi uphelele (come here Friday, Friday my darling, work is finished) - part of the Zulu words in the Juluka song "Woza Friday."

Hi FEDS
It was a real pleasure hosting the now famous FEDS in Durban & we expect huge changes will have taken place in the twins by the time we see them again in April.
I think Steve's reference to placid Daniel as a thug is a mistake----maybe dear dad was looking in a mirror whilst he was blogging !!!!
Fiona, go & knock the MD's socks off from the 5th of March. You deserve to have a good 2007.

missing you all after having such an awesome weekend with the feds.

i cant wait to see you all again, and am very happy to hear that they are keeping healthy weights.

hats off to emma for winning the National Fart Off Competition for the U1 age group.

And for Daniel, im so proud that he is eating his vegetables. He'll grow up to be a "strapping young lad" with strong bones. Tell im that aunty caiti says if he eats carrots his eyes will sparkle...

Love you all..
