Eggs for breakfast

On Saturday I decided it was time for them to try eggs. They need to have eaten egg yolk and white by the time they are nine months old, because the vaccination they have at that age has albumen in it. So, with only 3 weeks to go, it was time! I boiled 2 eggs and took the yolk out of the white. I mashed it with a bit of cheese that they have had before and like. Emma quite enjoyed it, and had a little over half of hers, but Daniel pulled faces as if I had given him a piece of lemon. I know we shouldn’t, but Steve and I couldn’t stop laughing! Even when I was just holding the spoon in front of his mouth he shuddered at the anticipated horror of it!

On Sunday morning I decided to try scrambled eggs instead, so I scrambled 2 with some cheese again, tomatoes and thyme. Daniel loved it and gobbled down most of his, but Emma wasn’t interested. I think though, that it was just a general disinterest in food on Sunday though, and nothing personal towards the egg. It was an experience though, and one that needs to be repeated before the month is out. Fortunately though, there were no allergic side effects, so that is the important part!

I managed to obtain two tickets for the rugby on Saturday. South Africa was playing Samoa in a fairly minor game, but we don’t go to the stadium that often. The seats were excellent – only 10 rows back and on the 22m line. SA thrashed Samoa, in a fairly exciting game. We left the half pints with Granny Jo and Aunty Judy, and all 4 of them seemed to have a good afternoon. As we were there to collect them again, we stayed, had supper and watched a DVD.

Yesterday was a pretty tedious day as far as babies go. Emma is being quite attention seeking at the moment, so it is hard to leave her on her own for any length of time and meant that one of us was pretty much tied to where she was at all times. We did manage to watch the French Open final and the exciting Canadian Grand Prix though!

Last night was a great night for Steve, who was on duty. Emma only woke once for her dummy to be put back in, and didn’t want her bottle at all. Hopefully we will soon not be getting up at all. I also hope desperately that she is as kind to me tonight as she was to her Daddy last night!
