The twins seem to be beating the battle against their colds which is great for us as the lack of sleep was not helping our own colds.
Now that Emma is feeling better, she has suddenly moved forward in terms of her development. On Tuesday night she went to sleep by herself and then proceeded to sleep the whole night - no dummy problems, no bottle needed, nothing! Daniel also slept through - our first peaceful night!
I was extremely relieved as I had to leave home at 05:30 to go and pick up Norose as due to the big strike, no transport was running. A night with no sleep would have made the day pure hell. I picked her up at the Dobsonville Police Station on the edge of Soweto. It was quite an education as there was a Metro police car at each intersection in Soweto. Now we know where they hide when the robots are out and the traffic has backed up for kilometres.
Both are gulping large amounts of food down at virtually every meal. Another relief if you consider how it sometimes took seven hours to get 30 ml of milk into Emma!
Tonight they were both full of complaints as they seemed absolutely exhausted. Daniel fell asleep soon after his bottle and Emma fell asleep against my hand as I gently rocked her. Quite funny to see as she put her head on my hand and just went to sleep - still sitting up. Last night she wanted to play until well after 11 pm.
Hopefully, the weekend ahead will be quiet after last weekend which was quite hectic. Next weekend we go to Durban to watch the All Blacks play the Springboks. Exciting ... I marvel at how South Africans havebecome like the English. We seem to be trying to destroy any hope of our winning the rugby world cup with all the unnecessary off-the-field going ons. Somewhere somebody needs to say enough is enough, lets go and win the cup. I suppose you need a leader to do that ... (de la rey, de la rey, sal jy die bokke kom lei ...).
Hey it is an early night - time to sleep.
