We had a good game of rugby on Saturday afternoon (the first game in the Tri-Nations), which luckily we won against Australia. I didn't watch it, as I opted to sleep instead, but Steve and Emma watched. Emma has decided that going to bed is for the birds, and has been playing all evening despite all our efforts to persuade her to sleep. Fortunately this evening was a bit earlier, so it gives up time to do their bottles and food and actually sleep ourselves!
Today we watched bits of the Comrades Marathon. It has lost most of its appeal for us, as these Russian running machines win year after year, and our guys don't get much of a look in! Anyway, it was nice to see the record being broken this year, which is the first time since 1996. This evening we also watched the Grand Prix in the US. It was a pretty ordinary race (especially after the excitement of the Canadian one last weekend), but it is really fabulous too see these talented youngsters like Louis Hamilton coming through!
Emma has started holding her own bottle, which is super, as we can give it to her and she pretty much feeds herself. This evening, however, she discovered that the teat is squeezable, so was having great fun spraying herself with milk (as you can see in the photo below).
They have also started interacting quite nicely, and spend quite a bit of time squeaking at each other and have started to play and pinch toys from each other.
Daniel's balance with his sitting as well as his time on his knees is paying off, and he can spend quite a bit of time doing both without toppling over. He is obviously starting to connect the position on his hands and knees with crawling, as he draws his knees under him ,and then lifts his hands, but he lifts them both, instead of just one, and goes nosediving into the carpet. He doesn't see too fazed by it, and it is hilarious to watch! Yesterday Emma started also lifting onto her knees, and also started saying more intelligible syllables. Today's favourite phrase was: "Da, da, DA!" which she repeated over and over again. Well done Emma for realising that it was Father's Day!
Daniel's sound of the moment is the clicking sound made in the Xhosa language, which obviously Norose is teaching him. It is so sweet, as he is very pro at it! Toy of the week is still Dad's shoe laces!
They both had eggs for breakfast again yesterday and today, and loved it and didn't suffer any side effects, so I think that is sorted for their measles injection coming up in 10 days time.
