Sorry about the lack of news - life has been hectic in Fedsland. Emma and Daniel have not been sleeping very well, so we have spent many more hours than normal trying to get them back to sleep. At some stage last night, Emma ended up in our bed, as Steve just couldn't settle her down. They both seem to be suffering a bit from separation anxiety, although not to any great extent.
Emma's latest fad is pottering off on her own to the kitchen and sitting in front of the security gate for ages, staring out. She is also starting to 'surf' along the furniture, and is experimenting with letting go. That quite often ends in tears as she lands on her bum with a thud. Words are sounding more and more formed, with a vague 'hello' and 'bye' being said when we leave or arrive in a room.
Daniel is starting to shake his head from side to side, which I think Emma was doing about 3 or 4 weeks ago. He is also really crawling like a pro, and scoots around all over.
Up until now, I have been bathing them in their bath seat, but Steve got them a non-slip bath mat late last week, so this weekend saw the first baths with them sitting up. I tried a few weeks ago with Emma, but she really panicked. This time around, she was a little nervous, but managed, although looked a bit antsy the whole time. Daniel took it in his stride, and was even confident enough to lean forward to grab a toy that floated past!
They spent Saturday afternoon with Granny Jo and Aunty Judy, and all involved seemed to enjoy the time together.
Emma has a very nasty little whine that she has recently started. We are going to have to watch that, as it could become a real problem. She just always wants to be picked up, and freaks out seriously if we leave her and walk off.
Other than that, it is another busy week at work for both of us. Steve is training virtually every day this week, so is working flat out preparing course material, and we have had a few major crises at the office which has seriously affected my bosses' moods. One is away for 2 days later this week, so that will give me some breathing space!
