Happy Birthday to You Two!

Happy Birthday Emma and Daniel!

One whole year old! We can't believe that a year can both go so slowly, and yet so fast all at the same time. There were interminable bottles, nappies, sleepless hours and washing, and yet, there were also two little scraps that very quickly learned to smile, laugh, gurgle, sit, crawl and climb stairs.

I think it has been one of the most rewarding and exhausting years ever, but we have loved most of the moments, and wouldn't go back for the world!

Today dawned without a sun so we moved the party indoors! We gave them their bottles follwed soon after by their presents. We got them a small keyboard type of toy with various melodies and an 8 key scale that they can plink on as well as a bus shaped toy with animals in the windos, songs, and colourful buttons and lights, which always goes down well.

It was also Caroline's birthday today, so she and her boyfriend (Garth) came over for lunch, but arrived early as Caro had offered to ice their birthday cake.

Steve and Garth inflated their birthday present from Granny Leona, Grandpa Barry, Lauren, Erin and Caitlin, and Emma and Daniel had a preview of it before we moved it inside too. Decided it was too cold for water, so filled it with all their balls and some balloons. They played so nicely in their while we ate lunch but they joined us halfway through and sat at the ends of the table in their chairs.

Granny Jo, Aunty Judy, Sharon, Tim and Andrew joined us for afternoon tea, and a good play with all the toys!

We had a lovely afternoon, and just wished that family and friends far away could have joined us for our (not-so-baby) children's special day. Thank you to all who emailed, called and smsed to say they were thinking of us all today.
