The Lion King was fabulous! The opening scene was so moving, and I got all choked up! The costumes were spectacular, and the 'South Africanisms" they injected into our show were hilarious.
Friday night we attended our first SAMBA committee meeting. Of course, mother nature chose that particular evening to send JHB one of the most ferocious storms ever! I left work a little early, and was caught in the beginning stages of it. The rain and hail were falling at such an angle, I could not see in front of me, even with the windscreen wipers going full tilt. I met someone this weekend who said that all their front windows were cracked by the hail!
We hit the second wave of it as we headed out to Edenvale (a trip that should have taken no more than 25 minutes, ended up taking us a bit over an hour). All the robots on in one area were out, and on one section of the road a big tree had blocked 3 out of 4 lanes, so that took ages to negotiate. But we arrived in one piece, and of course our angels were good as gold. I am glad we attended the meeting, as I received a lot of background info, and it was great to finally meet some of the other SAMBA members.
Today we went for a braai at Sharon and Tim's to meet some of their neighbours. They already have 2 boys, but are expecting twins in February, so Sharon very kindly hosted us so we could meet. I am not sure I would like to be in that situation of having to look after 4 children!
Emma has been rather attached to Steve lately - more so than usual, and shuns me totally when she sees him. She has also, in general, been quite needy of attention too, which can get a little tiresome!
The past few days have been Daniel's days. He has been a very intrepid little explorer, and as you can see from the pictures below, is into everything! He climbed into the toy basket, on top of the toys, and then got stuck! The second one is a bath I received for donation, but as we are all out of storage space, it is currently living on the study floor. Daniel decided it was the perfect size for him. In the last one, he is standing on the window sill in their room. He has learned how to climb onto the toybox, and loves hanging on the burglar bars.
So, another week lies ahead. It seems that it won't be as blisteringly hot as the past week, which will be a slight reprieve!

Hi FEDS
Judging by Daniel's climbing skills I think dad can forget about building a jungle gym----time to think about a tree house !!!!
Leona & I are enjoying our 'Indigenous' gardening---except I have got no idea what plants are indigenous or what their darn names are so maybe FEDS can educate yours truely in about 5 weeks time.
Cheers for now
