Jam

I think I have got whiplash as another week goes whizzing by!

Our weekend was relatively quiet, with the usual Emma-mornings starting bright and early. The weather was gorgeous, and yesterday in particular was quite hot. We filled up the one half of the sandpit clam with water, and they spent quite a while splashing around in it.

Daniel's trick of the weekend was to climb onto their toy box, then he stood up on it, hanging onto the burglar bars! He accomplished this all on his own! He also climbed up one of our loungers outside, and sat quite happily up there for ages.

I was determined that Daniel would learn how to put rings on a spike, so while Emma was asleep yesterday we concentrated on that. After a few attempts, he did it right a couple of times. He was so pleased with himself, and kept shrieking with laughter.

Steve spent most of yesterday wading around in our pool, trying to sort out the mess of leaves at teh bottom. Our kreepy unfortunately died a lingering death a couple of weeks back, but we just didn't get around to replacing it for a while. Steve eventually brought one home so for the past 2 weekends now, has spent 1 day on each weekend trying to get all the junk out. It is finally looking a bit more like a pool and less like a duck pond!

Our apricot tree is groaning under the weight of all the fruit, and as in past years we have not benefitted from it, I decided that this year we would! So, yesterday I picked a couple of kgs of fruit, and this evening I made a pot of jam. It seems to have worked, and I have 3 jars of jam in the cupboard! I also want to make apricot curd, as I have found a super recipe for it! Next year, I am also going to do something constuctive with the mulberries, as so many of them go to waste. We are almost past the season now, so it is too late this year. We have also planted a lemon tree, which I see now has tiny baby lemons on it, so hopefully that will also keep us stocked up!

We have a pretty hectic schedule this week, with the weekend unofficially starting on Thursday. We are going to see the Lion King with Sharon and Tim on Thursday evening. On Friday evening it is the first meeting of the new SAMBA committee, so I really want to attend that. It is a bit of a tough one, as it is the other side of JHB, but we will manage and will just take Emma and Daniel along. I am attending a nappy talk on Saturday morning at Sharon's, but only for an hour, where I believe we will all be given a bag of nappies. It is a different brand to the ones that we are currently using, but I am getting tired of paying a premium for these Pampers as they don't seem to be working very well at the moment (seams have been bursting, scattering the gel everywhere). So we will see what Huggies have to offer! On Sunday we are joining Sharon and Tim for a braai, as their neighbours have recently found out that they are expecting twins (they already have 2 boys)! They want to meet us and have a 'twin talk'. So, by Monday we will need another weekend!

Daniel descending!

Just sitting

Gummy grin
