Time Flies

Hey, I can also stand like that!

Dancing!!!

Time really flies - is it really a week since we last did a blog entry. Our apologies.

Emma has developed a habit of waking up at about 6 am every morning, and then screaming blue murder until someone comes to feed her. Of course by then Daniel is awake and beginning to demand his bottle , and so we are all then awake. We then bring them through to the bedroom where they proceed to play with everything in reach while we get going.

In fact, last weekend, Emma single handedly managed to wake every member of the family up the entire weekend!

Last Saturday, we decided to turn the pain of being woken up so early into a positive so we went off to Zoo Lake for a wonderful walk around the Lake. We chose Zoo Lake as there are lots of ducks there, and we do a lot of talking about ducks every evening as their one toy quacks very nicely. Well it worked out really nicely as we were able to park the pram on the edge of the lake just as a whole flock decided to exit the water with their ducklings. The twins watched with wide eyes. Wonderful. We then decided to hit the local coffee shop in the old corner cafe at the Parkview shops. Had a wonderful time there as there were lots of other parents there with their babies - all woken up at six?
As it was quite hot on Saturday, we decided to move the play pool into the garden (from the pool room). We then filled it with water and placed both toddlers into the water. Both just sat there for a long time trying to comprehend what was going on. Eventuaslly Emma started playing to the balls that were all floating on the water. That ended when she ventured in front of the big flower that has water shootting out of it. Well, she got such a fright that it was time to dry her off. Daniel and I then played a sliding game on the slide which he loved.
The only problem with "swimming" is that they go bare. We didn't notice Daniel depositing quite a large turd on the grass (as it was done with no effort) which led to a quick "on-with-thenappy" when we did discover it.
On Sunday evening we went to see the Parlatones live at the Barnyard Theatre at Cresta. Granny Jo looked after the twins. Caroline and Garth, and some colleagues from work joined us for what was an extremely good show. They played a little longer than they expected due to the reaction of the audience. A great night.

Since then the week has flown as we slowly recovered from the late night on Sunday night combined with our new early morning wake-up calls, courtesy of Emma except for this morning when Daniel decided that Emma was running late.

Emma is beginning to stand for short period of time without holding on - she will soon be walking. She loves letting go of the cot and then standing for about twenty seconds before collapsing onto her bum with shrieks of laughter. Sometimes the game loses its development meaning when she lets go and sits down without any standing involved.

Daniel is turning into a happy little boy. He laughs aloud at everything - sometimes imitating more adult laughing. He also gives loud "mmmms" when it comes to eating food.

We bought some new flavours of porridge yesterday after they seemed bored with what they have been getting. The enthuisiasm for their porridge suddenly increased dramatically! Mmmmmmmmm

Both have had their moments this week with seperation anxiety - someone usually having a tantrum when one of us leaves the room, never to return ...

One thing we are thankful for is how easily they go to sleep every night. We usually wait for the regular as clockwork moaning before bundling them off to be changed and put into their cot. Each gets kissed goodnight by us both (Emma is developing a really wet kiss that gets given out at every opportunity wheras Daniel pushes you away if you try and kiss him) before being waved at while we say good bye. We usually get a "bye" out of at least one of them before putting out the light. They then usually go to sleep without as much as a murmer.

Ooh another thing - Fiona has just reminded me - Emma is meowing like our cat!
