On Saturday morning Daniel decided that he wanted his mommy back and so proceeded to scream (demand) to be let outside so he could stand at the gate and wait for her. After about fifteen minutes, he had calmed down and proceeded to greet everyone who was walking passed. Quite nice to watch how virtually everyone just melts and greets him.
There was much celebration when mommy returned from her trip to Grahamstown. Daniel is definitely a mommy's boy!
Both were so well behaved while Mom was away. On Friday afternoon we watched bits of the Olympic opening ceremony which was great. The fireworks were watched but were not admired as I think they could not comprehend.
We did Spur on Saturday night (for a change) which was a nice experience as they both sat on a bench next to us. We then ordered some kiddies food for them which they ate whilst we enjoyed our Calamari (Fiona) and ribs - as many as you can eat (me). After a while they got restless - luckily it was time to go so we went.
On Sunday afternoon, we took them for a long walk to the park we visited the weekend before. Again it was the jungle gym that was most popular. The slide was approached first, and after a wide-eyed slide down (into Mommy's arms), it was not approached again. During our visit, Daniel kept on running off to the bottom of the park - possibly after a loud ice-cream truck that could be heard from that direction (at one time). He was after the music as he spat out the icecream that we offered him (Dad did chase it). A banana was more agreeable to both of them - to our relief.
Emma has taken to saying "I love you" which is very sweet. Daniel is now also repeating words regularly. And so communication is improving virtually day-by-day.
One always wonders about the undesirable language etc.that they pick up at school. But it has a positive side too as they pick up so many good words and developmental experiences too. Sometimes I feel a twinge of jealousy as someone else taught them something
Tonight, both Emma and Daniel seemed to really enjoy watching 50/50 with us. Both loved seeing the Chimpanzees featured as well as the bird inserts. Nice to watch as it is our dream for them to enjoy watching wildlife (as we love it so much).
Otherwise, I'm looking forward to a quite week (last week was very hectic). The Olympics is proving to be the usual great event that it is. Loving the volleyball, archery, gymnastics, fencing and swimming.
Wasn't the mens 100m swimming relay final phenomenal. Breaking the world record is not a usual event. Something to be treasured. Our recorder is going to be working overtime as we record thingst to watch at more acceptable hours.
Wasn't the Boks vs Argentina phenomenal. A nice warm-up for the All Blacks in Cape Town on Saturday.
