Daniel has gone into a very clingy stage which can be quite tedious as he wants to be held all the time. Emma is less clingy now but still likes a good carry and a hug.
They are given a small tub of yoghurt every evening while we eat. During the last few evenings, Emma has asked Daniel for some of his yoghurt (she had aleady gobbled hers down). Well he responded by giving her several spoonfuls which were met with a "thank you Daniel." Very sweet to watch. Daniel is also getting a little wiser to the "more" demand and tonight he called a halt so he could enjoy his.
Everything in Daniel's vocab is either "no" or "mine." Quite tedious when he decides to dig his heels in. Luckily he has such a nice nature that there is still lots of giving - tonight, he decided that he wasn;t going to bed before he had a certain car in his cot. when he returned to the bedroom, he had also collected a car for Emma to play with. Nice.
To get around the "no" issue, I've been taking the time to show them their clothes before getting dressed in the mornings. If one makes enough fuss, they become very willing to wear whatever we have chosen for that day.
The weather is beautiful - about 26 degrees - all t-shirts and shorts. Every few days it threatens to rain but nothing significant has fallen yet - we desperately need it. Only enough drops to dirty our cars!
The swing has gone down well with Daniel but not really with Emma who seems quite scared of it. However, I have seen her sit on it at least twice when she thought nobody was watching.
We are putting up a fence on the driveway side of the pool to ensure nobody gets to the pool. On the weekend, I was able to work on it for about two hours while Fiona was out. went well with the twins pottering around but not going near the pool (which has a pool net on it). they are beginning to entertain themselves which makes weekends a little easier although their is regular contact still needed.
Well don't we live in interesting times. Governments nationalising banks etc. Interesting to watch. Fiona has spent most of her bonus buying shares at the current low prices.
Ooh yes - one thing that Fiona didn't mention in her post about Kruger was what fantastic accommodation we had. We had a bungalow next to the camp fence which was next to a dry river bed that runs down to a waterhole. Well, were we lucky as you could literally lie in bed or sit on the verandah and watch the animals go by on their way to the big waterhole (Kruger was very dry) or to the smaller one that was located in front of our house. The one night, we had Elephants right next to the fence (very noisy stomach gurgling and crashing of bushes) and a hyaena. the next day, we were all sitting at breakfast when a small herd of elephant walked right passed us - 10 m away. Great for the children to see as the elephants were not hassled by our presence. They now get very excited when they see wildlife on TV (which to our surprise is relatively often). Great to see especially Daniel really react to all the different animals as this is so close to our hearts.
Fiona has just brought me a sweet Baby Melon to eat. Bye bye!
