On Friday night, we decided to eat-out at Spur. Well, within 15 minutes we were ready to go back home as we had two terrorists with us. On reflection, we should never have taken them out as they had a birthday party at creche and were on a sugar high second to none.
Anyhow, we decoded to stay and have our dinner which was marked by a glass of water being knocked down - all over the table, Daniel pulling down the divide between us and the adjacent table and our neighbours being terrorised. Anyway, it was a short dinner and we were home early.
The visit was a landmark one as we left the pram at home and walked the twins in. Daniel was wearing a harness that we bought at a Baby Shop - he loves it but not so much the other visitors to Cresta - many stares of utter disbelief were received. Obviously not the done thing but it works for us as he likes running! Emma holds a hand although she soon also wanted to run off and enjoy things.
On Saturday, I worked on our pool fence (in the blazing sun) while they played in my car (a top attraction of the whole house as the radio is turned on and off and the hazards are put on). Daniel discovered an apple that had fallen behind my seat on Friday and proceeded to eat it. They then ate a pear each too.
That afternoon, they went to Andrew's birthday party which was enjoyed by all. On Saturday night, our social continued with the 6-th birthday of my Aunty Eileen. A nice occasion with the twins having free reign of the house which they loved. Daniel was everywhere, running and shouting with joy and over-excitement. They went home nice and tired after a long, hot very social day.
Early on Sunday morning, Daniel woke us with a terrible cough that had him panicking as he seemed to be battling to breathe. Took an hour to calm him down and give him Panado and cough syrup. He then took over the bed. About two hours later our alarm went off (for no reason) and two hours later, Emma discovered that she was alone and demanded to join us in bed. Well, we were both completely wiped out for the rest of Sunday. Daniel was also very "off" until he had his sleep at midday.
His cough is of concern although it seems to have reduced in intensity. t was only showing itself late at night after several hours of sleep. It sounds like whooping cough which is not nice - they have been vaccinated against it. Anyhow, today it seems to be more normal.
Everyone started recovering towards evening and we had a nice braai in the warm evening - this is such a nice time of year - balmy evenings and no thunderstorms - yet. Daniel had panado, cough syrup and we put on the nebuliser to ensure we had a full night of sleep - which went to plan.
Daniel continues with his Dad fixation - saying "my Daddy" with everything that disturbs him and I'm not visible. Emma has also started reciting the days of the week which is quite fun to listen to and play along with. Their vocab is growing by the day. Nice to see although it also allows for plenty of one-sided arguments - which we lose!
They are both getting quite independent - Daniel insists on climbing into the car himself now, and he must have the cot down so he can climb into bed - no mommy or daddy picking him up into bed.
Emma is getting a little braver with the swing - now climbing in for very gentle rides. Daniel enjoys the wild rides (to maximum swing height).
Otherwise we are looking forward to seeing the Fullers this next weekend.
