6 weeks old

To the left is one of the many feeding positions that keeps both of them happy as they both like being held by Mum...

Today they are 6 weeks old, and although on the one hand it feels as if the last 6 weeks have flown by, on the other it feels as if we have done nothing else but look after them for the last 6 months!

Norose's nights here make a big difference, as even though I do still wake up when ever they cry, I have the freedom to go straight back to sleep, so that is great. They have been taking turns to be brats though, and on Wednesday night it was Daniel's turn to keep her up all night, and Emma had her turn on Thursday night. One day we will have a night where they are both little angels.... Won't we??

They went for their 6 week check up with the paed on Wednesday and although they haven't put on as much weight as he would have liked (on average they are each about 20g a week below the minimum), he is satisfied with their overall development. They are reaching all their 6 week milestones too, what with being able to track an object and voice with their eyes, lift their heads up and are both showing the beginnings of a smile.

Next week Wednesday they are having their 6 week jabs, and although they don't know what they are in for, I am dreading it and hope they don't get too upset.

Steve and I go through patches of serious blurs where we can't remember things that have happened (for instance I didn't hear our burglar alarm the other night [!!!]) and Steve is currently experiencing a patch of not being able to recall the correct words for what he is trying to say! Oh the joys of early parenthood. 3 weeks ago I couldn't see the light at the end of the tunnel, but I am finally starting to see a glimmer of something... Is it really a light???

Anyway, we are about to go out for another walk with them which was great fun last weekend, so we are both looking forward to it. Next weekend they are flying and partying for the first time, as we are going to Durban for Aunty Erin's 21st birthday party. Will be great to see everyone down there and also be able to go for a walk on the beach with them.
These 2 photos were taken on their 6 week birthday, doing what they do best - drinking! Daniel has the blue bottle and Emma the red one.
We know we have been remiss about writing on the blog, but will try and do better from now on!
