Post 235

This is the time of year that living inland is to our advantage as the cold fronts veer off to the south before they can make us cold. As a result, we're pulling out the t-shirts and shorts again. Such a lovely time of the year.

I found the Olympics absolutely spectacular. I've always thought that we had reached the very edge of human performance and from hereon in, great performances would be measured by minute increases on the existing world records.
Well, then came Beijing and Bolt and Phelps who seem to have taken in all the smog they could to put in performances that were spectacular. Watching them both break world records by such large margins was a treat that not many will see again. Bolt's 100m was the greatest run I've ever seen. We just loved all the coverage and watched and enjoyed almost every sport. A real celebration that one can only admire.
We are real gymnastics affectionadios - watching every event including the rhythmic gymnastics. Also really enjoyed the table tennis and the archery (especially seeing Korea land two bulls eys at 70 m in a pouring thunderstorm). The volley ball was nice to watch (the Polish women's team should produce a calendar) as was the water polo. What a great 16 days - our house seems to be missing something tonight.

In contrast wasn't the rugby a big disappointment. For the second week in a row, we've stopped watching and gone and done something more interesting.

Well, we took the plunge today and decided to hit Kruger Park for a break in a month's time. Got in at Berg 'n Dal for three nights which should be spectacular. Cannot wait to see Emma and Daniel's reactions to the animals as they can already recognise some of them in pictures.
I've had two spectacular leopard sightings in the Berg 'n Dal area so here's hoping they get to see one of those spectacular cats from close-up. The Kruger booking certainly sorted out the Olympic blues for mommy and daddy.

They were both in brilliant moods today - a nice change from the tantrums of last week. Lots of playing and laughing tonight. There was a bit of opposition at bedtime but that soon faded when they realised how tired they were.
Daniel seemed to have a nightmare last night which took quite a long time to sort out. As a result he joined us in bed and shortly thereafter Emma insisted on being included too. So we are pretty tired today after trying to sleep with two bed hogs for what seemed a long night.

Good night or as we say to the twins "byebye time."
